The flag arrived today. it is nice. It’s made of lightweight synthetic fabric.

It has metal grommets and hemmed edges.

This flag will be perfect for pony play evens i go to, but i don’t think i’ll be flying it for extended amounts of time outside at home. i don’t know how it will handle the wind (and we get a lot of it here) or the sun (we get a lot of that too).

A while

Its been a bit since i posted. i hope to post some more soon.

Collared Eternity

Item: Stainless Steel Collar
Manufacturer: Eternity Collars
Source: www.eternitycollars.com
Status: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Years ago, i purchased a collar from a little workshop in San Diego. (I actual bought a collar, bracelet, and anklet)  It was a Stainless steel round collar that locked in place with an hex screw.

i love the weight and fell of the steel. Recently, i noticed it had shrank a little and decided to purchase a new one. The new one arrive in the mail today.

The packaging was discrete (for those that that matters to). Inside: a black box.

And inside the black box? a black velvet bag (and a little plastic bag). 20150202_EC_OpenedBox2

I pulled the collar out of the bag and immediately noticed the shininess. My old one had aquired a “brushed” look over the years, as i wear it with the D/O ring.20150202_EC_OpenedBox20150202_EC_Contents

The little plastic bag contained the hex key and two extra screws. The hex key is a nice improvement over the old ‘L’ key. While inspecting the collar i found Eternity’s mark:

Coming Soon to Shadowforge: Hoof Mitts

An update to: 19 JAN: Working on Hoof Mitts

I have finished the prototype (Mk2) hooves. I decided to change from a padded mitt to a covering strap due to lack of a leather rated sewing machine.

The current design:

Hoof wall and sole are made of heavy leather (~10oz) and are stitched together with waxed linen thread.  It is shoed with a St Croix Forge steel horseshoe (Lite Rim size 0) and Capewell nails.  The inside has a padded suede base. The suede pastern and cuff loops are attached with brass chicago screws (with blue LOCTITE).

The cuff is 1.75in wide with a center bar roller buckle. The cuffs should fit wrists up to 8.5″ around. A heavy-gauge D-ring provides a point of attachment.

Shonw here are Bone colored hoofs with chestnut pasterns and black cuffs.

Production options include (depending on what my leather suppler has available at the time):

  • Hoof Colors Options: Black, Brown, or Bone (pinkish, seen above)
  • Pastern Color Options: Black, Brown, Chestnut, Tan, Grey Suede
  • Cuff Color Option: Black, Brown, and Natural Color.

Custom modifications may be possible depending on material availability.

Working on Hoof Mitts

Ponies need shoes too.

Hoof mitts are available on the web. There are a few latex hoof mitts out there (and i do love latex) but it seemsto be  no good supply of leather pony mitts. Puppies have many options for paws, but ponies have to shoe themselves. my goal it to change that.

So, i have started working on a prototype fore hoof. i hope to be able to sell these in the future through Shadowforge.

Design: my plan is to have a heavy leather hoof shell (with horseshoe) on a padded leather mitt with lockable strap and extra Dee rings (extra attachment points are good 🙂 )

So far, i have made the prototype’s hoof shell and am working on the mitt portion.

Now, time to break out the sewing machine.

Field Expedient Bit & Bridle

Awhile ago i came across The Veterinarian’s artwork.  i have always like his imagery. (Veterinarian on deviantart)

Recently, my Trainer and i decided to try out the “Easy Ponygirl Bitgag“.  Looking around the house, i found some paracord and a 3/8” wood dowel.  It took me longer to whittle the notches in the wood (about 10 minutes) than it took to tie  the harness. I opted for using keyrings instead of knot loops.

The bit is held tightly in the mouth.  The bridle stays securely on the head, even through a fair amount head shaking.

My Trainer liked the idea of a bridle that could be get wet, dirty and be easily cleaned, so she challenged me to make a sturdier version. i came up with this:

Braided Paracord Bridle by Shadowforge

Yay, colours; though i still like OD green for when i have to be a tactical pony.

The goal of my store is to sell ponyplay gear that i create.

Right now, i am selling Braided Cord Bridles.  i decided to make these bridles to sell to people that want low-priced custom ponyplay tack.

In the future i hope to offer other specialty items like hoof mitts and boots (hopefully).

Review: Ponyplay Hoof Foot Binders

Item: Ponyplay Hoof Foot Binders
Manufacturer: Unknown
Source: bdsm-gear.com
Status: NOT RECOMMENDED

While waiting for my Sinvention Pony Point Trainers, i decided to see what other options for foot trainers were available.  i found some “Ponyplay Hoof Foot Binders” from bdsm-gear(dot)com.  At ~$40, I decided to order pair.

They arrived in a timely manner in discrete packaging.  They look as shown on their website.  They are faux leather. The material is thin and bends easily. The locks are not secure.

ImageImage

i put them on and tightened the straps as much as i could.

“These foot binders keep the wearer on their toes at all times.”

Image

As for keeping me on my toes, they failed.  i could stand with most of my foot on the ground. The material bent and creased. The only thing keeping my whole foot off of the ground was the buckle under my heel (standing on it is uncomfortable).

i do not reccomend this item due to is failure to do it function.  i think that i can make a similar functional item if i take my $40 to my local leather supply store. Maybe i try it.
